Bridge Over Troubled Water
**
~When your weary, feeling small~
~When tears are in your eyes, I
will dry them all~
~I’m on your side oh when times
get rough~
~And friends just can’t be
found~
~Like a bridge over troubled
water~
~I will lay me down~
~Like a bridge over troubled
water~
~I will lay me down~
His hand went to her forehead,
tentatively at first in case he caused more harm then good and he gently wiped
away the tears that slipped through her tightly closed lids.
It had been rough out there
tonight. A damn set up with the intent of bringing this woman to her knees. And
although it may not have worked physically looking at her now he knew they had
succeeded emotionally.
His fingers shifted to her hair
and he smoothed the errant strands back. She had no one here now that Matt was
out recuperating from his knee surgery and her so
called ‘husband’ was off making a movie. But that was all going to change. He
was here now.
~When your down and out, when
your on the street~
~When evening falls so hard, I
will comfort you~
~I’ll take your palm oh when
darkness comes~
~And pain is all around~
~Like a bridge over troubled
water~
~I will lay me down~
~Like a bridge over troubled
water~
~I will lay me down~
He listened as her quiet sobs
lessoned and her breathing evened out glad that at least in her slumber she
could find a little peace from this hell she was living.
Why Matt hadn’t told him what
was going on he wasn’t too sure on. Yeah so he wasn’t a part of the WWE anymore
– that didn’t mean he didn’t care. She was like a sister to him. He should have
been told. He should have been here to lighten her load.
He sighed and leaned back in the
chair he had moved so he could sit at her bedside and stared out at the
darkened sky. It shouldn’t have to be like this. She shouldn’t have to cry
herself to sleep every night. But she did. And all he could do was be with her
and hold her and let her know he cared.
~Sail on silver girl, sail on
by~
~Your time has come to shine,
all your dreams are on there way~
~See how they shine oh if you
need a friend~
~I’m sailing right behind~
~Like a bridge over troubled
water~
~I will ease your mind~
~Like a bridge over troubled
water~
~I will ease your mind~
“Sail on. That’s what you said
to me when I had made my decision to leave. Do you remember?” He said to the
still sleeping girl knowing she couldn’t hear. “Everyone was against me, even
Matt, but you said my time had come to shine and that my time to make my dreams
a reality was now. You said that if I ever needed a friend you would be sailing
right behind me waiting to pick me up if I fall.”
Jeff closed his eyes as his own
tears threatened to escape.
“Well I’m saying those words
right back at you Lita.” He whispered leaning forward to pull the covers up and
over her. “Only I’m not gonna wait behind – I’m gonna be right by your side all
the way.”
