Only One More Day

You can do this
“
A loud knocking on the bathroom door and the sound of her best
friend yelling broke into her private mantra and she gave herself one last ‘You
can do this’ stare before turning to open the door.
A very stressed looking Lita stood on the
other side.
“Gee,” She said as she stepped passed the raven haired woman in to
the bathroom. “Anyone would think it were ‘You’ getting married.”
They had barely spoken a word to each other through the wedding
rehearsal and didn’t even spare each other a look at the big family dinner last
night, it was apparent to one and all that they hated each other, yet fate
seemed destined to have there paths continually cross time and time again. Well
okay so this was only the third time, she told herself. But from where she was
standing that was three times too many.
She heard the wedding march beginning and tapped lightly on the
bathroom door.
“Lita… Li… its time.”
No answer came from inside the bathroom.
“Lita?” She called again pushing on
the door.
It swung open and all

Losing Lita
**
Two days… two very trying and tedious days of
being subjected to her company. And one very long, long night alone on
his brother’s couch trying to forget the last time he had seen her.
She was still deranged – That much he saw as soon as his eyes had
clapped onto her long silky black hair and dark eyes. She had ignored him of
course, that much he had expected. Not that that had worried him in the least
after all ‘He’ got to go home when all this was over.
As much as he loved Lita and highly approved of her marrying his brother he
just couldn’t stomach her best friend. He inwardly flinched just thinking about
her and had to close his eyes as if that tiny action would wipe her image from
his mind. And it worked too. Right up until he opened his eyes again and the
first thing he saw was her face staring right at him from across the room.
It took him a moment before it registered in his brain that
something was wrong with this picture for one thing the bridal march had been
playing for quite a few minutes now and still no bride was making there way
towards them. And secondly Lita’s one bridesmaid and
his partner for the day began to wave frantically at him, her expression
panicked instead of disgusted, which was what he was used to seeing when there
gazes met. And then she surprised him again by mouthing the word ‘Please’.
He moved immediately smiling to all who cared to look his way.
“What is it?” He said through tight lips when he reached her.
“She’s gone.”
“Who’s gone? What are you talking about?”
“Lita!” She hissed through clenched
teeth. “She’s gone and I can’t find her anywhere.”
Jeff’s gaze followed hers up to where his brother stood and before
he could stop himself he turned on her accusingly and snapped. “What did you
do?”
His eyes focused on her mouth as it dropped open.
“Do? What did I do?”
He nodded.
“I,” She began her panic turning to anger. “…Didn’t do a damn
thing.”
He smiled now feeling quite at home now that her face was shrouded
in fury. All that loving concern he could see in her eyes was starting to come
off as cute!
“Good.” He said shocking her into silence. “Let’s go find her then
before someone decides to go looking for her.” He said nodding towards his
brother and without realising it they both walked off
hand in hand to find the missing red head.

Putting Feelings Aside
**
“Where the hell can she be?” Jeff hissed as they opened another
door to yet another empty room. “Think damn it think!”
“I am thinking!” Victoria hissed from behind him not realising he had been talking to himself and not to her or
that he still clutched her hand in his. “You bloody well think!”
“I’m trying too so shut up!”
“Don’t tell me to shut up! You shut up!”
He stopped then and spun around so fast that she collided into him.
“Look,” He began his face very close to hers. “You obviously don’t
like me, I get that and believe me the feeling is mutual, but we have to work
together on this. There was a room full of people in there – You didn’t have to
get ‘My’ attention.” He snapped starting to walk again.
“I wasn’t.” She declared sourly from behind him. “I was trying to
get Matt’s attention.”
“I’m beginning to wish you did.”
“Likewise buster.”
Again he stopped suddenly to face her and again she plunged
headlong into his chest.
“Like I said we’re together now, let’s just put our feelings aside
and find Lita – Agreed?”
She nodded.
“Fine. It’s agreed.”
“Good.”
“Fine.”
“We understand each other then.”
“Perfectly.”
Neither of them moved.
His eyes went to her lips.
Hers to his.
He leaned.
She turned her face up.
He leaned some more… and then…
“What are you doing?” She asked her voice breaking the spell.
“Me!” He exclaimed pulling back. “What are ‘You’ doing?”
She blushed and took a step back herself.
“I…” She hesitated. “I… I’m looking for Lita.” Her eyes dared him
to contradict her and she sighed inwardly when he merely turned to continue on
there quest in finding Lita not even realising that
as she fell into step beside him that her hand willingly found his.

Finding Lita
**
“There is one place we haven’t looked.” Jeff said nodding to a door
down the hall.
He nodded and started towards it.
“Think about it, where would you go for a little quiet time?”
“A library.”
He cocked his head to the side and stared at her curiously and
continued to stare at her until she punched his arm to snap him out of it.
“That’s where I would…” He began then waved his words off as his
mind began to realise why it was they were here in
the first place. “Where would you go if you didn’t want anyone to find you?”
When put like that
“You wait here…” He began starting toward the door, but she
followed and pushed passed him into the men’s room.
“I’ve seen a penis before.” She said over her shoulder. He followed
her some what slowly and she wanted to laugh at the look on his face. “What?
Did I shock you?” She asked starting to check the cubicles.
“Me? Nah…” He said with a wave of his hand and a chuckle, but
“You know,” She said with a smile. “If you wanna go…” She added and
nodded towards the urinals. “Go right ahead… I might bite though.” Her grin was
a mile wide as she paused in her task of checking the cubicles to look back at
him and her amusement dimmed when her eyes met his. He looked like he was
actually considering doing what she had just suggested, his eyes telling her
that he hadn’t missed the double meaning behind her words and her mouth fell
open when his hands actually went to undo the front of his pants.
And then they heard a sneeze, a ‘Darn it all’ and then the ruffle
of material as Lita exited the last stall.
**
Caught
**
“Well this is new.”
Was the first thing she said as she faced them and grinned when in
unison her soon to be brother in law and her best friend looked down at there
still joined hands only to snatch them back when they realised
what they were doing. And then Victoria went on to slap Jeff on the shoulder as
if it had all been his fault they had been caught holding hands before taking
the steps that would bring her to Lita’s side.
“Honey, are you okay?” She said taking Lita’s
chin between her thumb and fore finger so she could check for any evidence of
tears.
“Yeah. I’m fine. Just got a little freaked before that’s all.”
“A little freaked?”
Lita rolled her eyes and blew a burst of air through her mouth.
“Okay so I was more then a little freaked, sue me.”
“
Lita quirked a brow at them
both.
“Right, I heard how worried you are about me,” She said and
chuckled when they both blushed. “If I didn’t bloody sneeze I might of heard something juicy.”
“That was-“
“We just-“ They both said in unison.
“You go,” Jeff said motioning for
“No, you go.”
Jeff looked from
“Ladies first.” He said.
“I’m no lady.”
Jeff raised a brow as he remembered what had happened between them
in that movie theatre. Oh she was a lady alright, he thought - A very naughty
and sexy lady.
Lita watched these two face off and shook
her head before walking to the door.
“I got a man to marry,” She called over her shoulder. “You two
coming or you gonna get a room instead.”
**
All’s Well That End’s Well
**
“Well that’s that then,” Jeff said as he, Victoria and the rest of
Matt and Lita’s guests watched and waved as the limo
sped the two newly weds off to begin there honey moon.
“Yep.”
Jeff shoved his hands in his pockets and looked down at the woman
standing just a few feet away only to shift his gaze when her head turned to
him.
“I guess everyone will start to leave soon.” She remarked and sure
enough those guests who weren’t filing back into the church were making there
way to there cars or just standing there as they still were. She turned fully
and faced him then.
“I guess.” Jeff said shuffling from one foot to the next.
“It all turned out well then…” She said taking the tiniest step
forward.
“Yeah,” He answered taking a step forward himself.
“So…” She took another step forward and her tongue snaked out to
moisten her bottom lip.
“So…” He said his voice turning to a mere whisper as his eyes
latched onto her small action.
“I…” Her eyes closed and her chin came up.
“You…” His head titled slightly and he leaned down just a little
bit and - Perfection.
**
“Do you think it worked?” Matt whispered to his new bride as the
limo drove off.
Lita grinned and lifted her head up from where it rested on her
husbands shoulder to peer out the limo’s back window to see her best friend and
her new brother in law locked at the lips.
“Oh yeah,” She replied with a grin before pulling Matt’s head down
to hers.
