“Excuse me, Shannon, can you take a picture with my son, Dylan?” A fan asked as Shannon nods. Although he had been in WCW with the crowds of fans, he loved the one on one interaction with the fans. Especially ones that would be easily overlooked or isolated like Dylan. “How old are you?” Shannon questioned as Dylan smiled shyly. “I’m four!” Dylan said as he moved next to Shannon as he squatted. “Wow, you are big guy! Hold on, let’s take the picture and I will give you an autograph.” Shannon said as Dylan’s face lit up. He placed one arm around the little boy and smiled. He grabbed one of the photos he normally sold and personalized the picture.

Moore, are you going home with us?” Jimmy shouted as Shannon nodded. “I have time off and I am getting out of the Midwest and heading home.” Shannon informed as they piled in and headed to their Ohio home. Shannon took a hot shower, as he was sore once again. The price of being a high flyer he thought as he stepped from the steamy shower. He wrapped a towel around his waist and walked to his room. He turned on the radio and removed the towel as he started the process of toweling off. As he heard the distinct sound of what appeared to be a pop station, he decided that he had to change the station, especially since it was special request and dedications. Hell he might as well listen to that chick is always talking about loving someone tonight.  He went to change the station and caught the dedication. And going out to Michelle from Josh… Michelle, Josh says he loves you and he can’t wait till he gets home. As the song began, Your love is wonderful yeah and I don’t want to lose you… So baby… soon as I get home…” Shannon sat and let the song take him back to a time he had almost forgotten.

He pulled on the maroon silk boxers and thought of Ananta. Ananta Ananya Morgan… she was the most gorgeous thing to ever set foot in Southern Pines High. She was 5’7’’, brownish black hair, gray eyes, and a smile that lit up a room with the right curves and accents, even at the age of sixteen. Ananta’s brother, Andrew was friends with Jeff. Shannon happened to tag along to a party at Andrew’s and noticed Ananta. But Ananta was busy entertaining and being the lovely hostess. Shannon tried to ask her out the whole summer and he couldn’t. Finally school started and Jeff made introductions. Shannon handled it from there. It helped that they had homeroom together, not to mention Western Civilizations and Sociology. He smiled as he remembered going to all the dances and homecoming. For two years, Ananta made his world absolute. Then during their senior year, the decision was made to take that next step. Shannon sighed as he thought about Ananta. When she had Jacob, he was willing to be there. Then he met Crystal and things changed. He thought about he was 18 in the prime of his life. He could actually go out and not have to worry about the baby. There was no limit to what they could do.

Shannon sighed as he thought about Jacob. Jacob Cameron Moore… his first born and a son no less… was growing up barely knowing who he was. Ananta had not denied him access to Jacob. It was just hard going there knowing he still cared for Ananta. He walked to the dresser to brush out his hair and noticed the picture of Ananta and Jacob. They had gone to Carowinds and they had just ridden the Scooby-Doo rollercoaster. They looked so happy and tranquil. Shannon could never factor in to that. Crystal and Ananta were not friends, acquaintances or even civil to each other. Shannon finished with his hair and pulled it up. He made a mental note to talk with Ananta. Now that he was gone at lengths on end, he wanted to visit with Jacob. He wanted to reconnect with his son. Tomorrow would be the start of a new beginning.

Ananta walked to her car and sighed. It was yet another gloomy day. She wished it would just go ahead and rain. The gloominess reminded her of the past. A past she had tried to forget. A past with Shannon that she found out the hard way had no future. Ananta sighed yet again as she turned into the daycare. Jacob was the light of her life. She adored her son. If there was one thing she thanked Shannon for, it was giving her Jacob. He was four and the most beautiful thing to her. “Mommie!” Jacob shouted as he ran to her.

Jacob was an exquisite mixture of her and Shannon. He had Shannon’s blond hair, her gray eyes and Shannon’s expressions. She watched as he grabbed his bag and waved bye to his friends. How could Shannon avoid this child? She fought back tears as Jacob took her hand and they walked to the car. Jacob climbed into the backseat and immediately placed on his seat belt. He noticed his Mommie and smiled at her in the rearview mirror. He wanted to ask about his daddy and why he stopped coming around but he knew that would make her sad. So he would just have to look at the pictures of them together and hope that one day there would be pictures of the three of them together.

Shannon arrived at the airport and smiled. He really liked wrestling in Ohio but his roots were in North Carolina. Shannon walked to baggage and claimed his items. He pulled out his cell and dialed the number. He wondered if Crystal would be up to going out. Cause he wanted to talk about Jacob and being a part of his life. “Hello?” Crystal said as she waited for Shannon’s voice. “Hey baby! I just landed. I should be home in about an hour. Are you up to doing anything tonight?” Shannon questioned.

“Not really, I am making dinner right now so I am waiting on you!” Crystal answered as she checked on the food. “Awesome, cause I want to talk with you about something.” Shannon said as Crystal frowned. “Is it bad? I mean you never want to talk unless it is something bad.” Shannon looked up and shook his head. “Sweetie, it is something that we need to discuss. Especially if we are going to get married in October.” Shannon said as Crystal sighed. “Okay, I will see you within the hour. Love you!” Crystal said as Shannon responded. “I love you, too.”

Ananta drove from the daycare to Wal-Mart. She hated going there because it was hell on earth. But Jacob needed some new clothes and there were groceries to get. Ananta shook her head as she realized there was always something she had to do. She could never opt out. Jacob waited for his Mommie to grab her purse and lock the car. “Do I get to ride in the cart?” Jacob questioned as his Mommie smiled. “Of course, I would hate to lose you!” Ananta answered as she picked him up and put him in a near by cart and walked towards the store. Jacob looked away from his Mommie. He really wanted to ask about his daddy. He missed him so much. He knew he had been a good boy and Mommie had been on her bestest behavior. “Mommie, when is daddy coming to see me?” Jacob questioned as Ananta looked for her coupons. “Umm… whenever he comes home from Ohio, honey. Remember that is where he is wrestling now.” Ananta answered as Jacob nodded.

“Mommie, is it okay for me to miss him like I do?” Jacob questioned as Ananta stood up from looking at pants. “Honey, it is perfectly okay. I mean he is your father and you guys have shared great memories together.” Ananta said confidently as she kissed his forehead. It was these times that she hated Shannon the most. So what she and Crystal did not get along. Jacob was a part of his life long before than… winch! Ananta regained her mental composure and walked to the food center. She stopped and picked Jacob up a book. He loved to read and always made up stories to tell her. She stopped in produce and grabbed almost two or four of every fruit and vegetable. She was lucky Jacob liked everything as long as it looked good. She then began her journey through the different isles. She made a note to contact Shannon about at least calling their son.

Shannon smiled as he entered Cameron. He was making good time. He had some spare time and decided to head to the Wal-mart and pick up some things. He had called Crystal and she added things for him to get. He knew she was avoiding the conversation that loomed in the air. He did not mean to nerve her but there was loneliness in his being. He missed seeing Jacob smile and hearing him laugh. Shannon parked the car and walked towards the lovely Wal-mart.  He walked to the pharmacy area. He needed razors, shampoo and lotion. He had left those things in Ohio.  Crystal needed razors, Dr. Pepper and some dishwashing liquid. He didn’t mind because he wanted time to clear his head and thoughts.

Shannon, when did you blow in?” Jeff questioned as Shannon looked at him. “About an hour ago, man what are you doing in here?” “Same as you picking up some things. Are you planning to go by and see Jacob while you are home?” Jeff asked as Shannon nodded. “Yeah, I miss him. I met this little boy yesterday. He was the age of Jacob and it started me thinking about how I was avoiding him because of Crystal’s feelings towards Ananta.” Shannon answered. “He is a beautiful boy and he loves you dearly.” Jeff said as he noticed guilt in Shannon’s eyes. “ I have done so much stuff wrong that he should hate me.” Shannon said as they walked to the food center. “That’s the beauty of children their forgiving spirit.” Jeff concluded as Shannon nodded.

Ananta was choosing kool-aid flavors with the expertise of Jacob. “Mommie, the purple and orange are the best besides the red kind.” Ananta smiled and just walked on to the bottled drinks. She was low on her water and sodas. She had just placed the water in her cart and realized she had like zero room. She moved and priced the sodas. Coke was having a sale .99 cents. It worked for Ananta.  “Oh Mommie! Don’t you like this song?” Jacob questioned as Ananta listened. “Yeah… it’s dancing queen by ABBA.” Ananta said, as she was content she had brought the whole store. She strolled to a checkout and thought of what to say to Shannon. It was not going to be easy or pretty. “Ananta?” A voice questioned from behind. “Oh my dear heavens! Jeff? What are you doing?” Ananta said as she hugged him. “Not much just picking up some things. Hey Jacob!” Ananta nodded as she placed things on the conveyer thingie. Jacob smiled and waved. May be Uncle Jeff would come and play with him. “So how are things in the world of Jeffrey Hardy?” Ananta questioned.

“Good, wrestling is my life.” Jeff said as Ananta laughed. “How’s Beth? I hardly see her now since I have switched from ER to pediatrics.” Ananta said as Jeff laughed. “She said the same thing yesterday. Good, we are thinking about getting married. Key word is thinking!” Jeff joked as Jacob reached out and touched his arm. “Uncle Jeff, are you busy?” Jacob asked, as Jeff knew where it was going. “For you…never! What’s up?” Jeff responded as Jacob looked at his Mommie. “Can I go home with you?” Ananta smiled and glanced at Jeff.

Because he was a very close friend to her brother, he stepped up in ways he should not have. Andrew was in Germany in the service and could not be there to help like he wanted. Jeff was her surrogate Andrew. “Well, Beth is out of town and I do need someone to keep me company. If that is okay with Mommie that you spend the night? I will have him home by 9 in the morning.” Jeff said as he and Jacob gave her puppy dog eyes. “Okay Okay! I will drop him off around 8.” Ananta said as they left the store. Jeff smiled as Jacob waved bye to him. He hated that Shannon let reservations reign over him. When Andrew asked him to keep an eye on Ananta, he had no problem doing it. He had taken them on a loop with him. He laughed because that began the rumor that he had a child. Jeff took a deep breath as he saw Shannon walking up. If Ananta had allowed him, Jeff would have adopted him. But Ananta pointed out the awkwardness of it and deemed him an Uncle.

“You just missed Jacob and Ananta.” Jeff said as he paid for his things. “Damn! I really wanted to see them.” Shannon said as Jeff grabbed his bags. “Before you see them, you need to talk with Crystal and see how she feels. You let her emotions rule you up till now. Plus Jacob is staying with me tonight. So you can go and umm… parley if not start a Malay. She has pent up angry towards you. I don’t think Jacob needs to hear you guys arguing.” Jeff pointed out as he waited on Shannon. “I know I fucked up but damn we need to see past that for Jacob’s sake.” Shannon said as Jeff shook his head. “Do you know she never says a mean word about you to Jacob. It would be easy for her to demean you but she doesn’t. She wants you to be to Jacob want she never had.” Jeff said as he walked towards his car. “Thanks Jeff!” Shannon called as he walked the opposite way.

Crystal sat and waited for Shannon to come home. She knew that he wanted to talk about Jacob. It is not that she did not want him around but Jacob was a consistent reminder of what she could never give Shannon… a first born son. As she noticed Shannon pull into the driveway, she started to set the table. She moved the salad and the rest of the dinner onto the table. “Hey baby! I am going to sit this stuff down and I will be right there." Shannon said as he took a deep breath. He was not sure how this was going to work but he needed Crystal to understand. She had to get pass whatever it was that prohibited her and Ananta from getting along.  “It smells good. How have you been?” Shannon questioned as Crystal smiled. “Thanks, I have been okay considering you were not here. So what is so important that we have to discuss?” Crystal asked as Shannon reached for the salad.

“I want Jacob to be a part of our lives.” Shannon said as Crystal nodded. “And how does his mother feel about this?” Crystal asked hatefully. “I have not had a chance to discuss this with her yet. I wanted to come to you. I mean this is going to affect our relationship.” Shannon said as Crystal frowned. “I know you want to be with your son, Shannon. But I can not allow it to happen. Not in my presence, he is a constant reminder of that bitch.” Crystal said as Shannon looked at her. “NO, it is deeper than Ananta.” Shannon said as Crystal shook her head. “You want to know why I don’t want Jacob here, you want to know okay I will tell you. He is a damn reminder that I will never give you your first born.” Crystal said. Shannon stared down in to his salad.  A deadly silence filled the room.

Shannon was not sure how to riposte to that. He felt so uncomfortable. Crystal had voiced what he had feared. “I am going to go. I need some air and space. I will call before I come back.” Shannon said as he left. Shannon walked to his car and got in. He was not sure where he was going but far from Crystal was the aim.  He picked up his cell phone and called Jeff.  He sighed as Jeff did not answer the phone. He didn’t really want to talk with anyone else. He cranked the car up and just drove. Sooner or later he would stop somewhere.

Ananta smiled as she stepped from the shower. It was 9 pm and she was about to lie in her bed and not worry about Jacob. She barely toweled off at she pulled her covers back. She needed something to drink and then she would settle in till tomorrow. She locked up everything and walked to pour some water. She jumped as the lightning flashed before her. Ananta noticed the rain coming down hard. She walked to her front door to lock it and noticed the mustang. Ananta walked to her phone and dialed Shannon’s cell. She became concerned when he did not answer. She sat up glass down and ran to the car.  She looked in and did not see him.

Shannon?” She called forgetting about the rain and the fact she was just wearing a robe. “Shannon?” She called as lightning flashed in the dark sky. Ananta noticed Shannon on her side porch. She walked to him. “Shannon, are you okay?” she asked as he looked up at her. Shannon realized where he was. His subconscious had brought him to her. “Yeah, I was driving home and it started raining so I stopped.” Shannon said. “Why didn’t you knock? You are soaked, come on it the house.” Ananta said as he looked at her. The rain had soaked her hair and made her robe transparent. “You’re so beautiful.” Shannon said as he moved to corner her on the porch. Ananta was not sure what was happening but it was feeling right.

Shannon had opened her robe and smiled. Ananta was just as beautiful as the night they first made love. Having Jacob actually increased her breasts and added definition to her hips. He kissed her deeply and felt her hands on his body. He moved to kiss on her neck and explore her body again. Ananta sighed as she felt Shannon’s mouth kissing, biting and licking her everywhere. She had to admit the rain made it more erotic. Shannon stopped as he unzipped his pants. He had an urgency to release and Ananta was ready to accept it. Ananta enjoyed the moment but quickly realized what was happening. Shannon had not put on a condom. She had not started her birth control. Shannon quickly dismissed her thoughts as he penetrated her deeply. “Oh Shannon!” Ananta said as the rain started falling hard. Shannon knew this was wrong. He cared for Crystal but Ananta had no reservations and no hang-ups. Just the one thing he needed… love.

“I want to call Mommie and tell her good night.” Jacob said as Jeff pulled him out of the tub. “Okay, dry off and put on your pajamas. I will go ahead and call her.” Jeff said as he walked to the phone. He noticed that Shannon had called. He shrugged and dialed Ananta’s number. Ananta and Shannon moved rhythmic in the rain. Shannon looked her dead in the eyes and saw her utter most feelings. She still wanted him and he still wanted her. "Ananta! Ananta!” Shannon called as Ananta threw her head back. “Damn Shannon, that’s it right there.” Shannon watched Ananta climax and her body shake.

He could only oblige, as he could not longer hold in his passion. They both tried to regain their composure. Ananta heard the phone as it rang. She pushed Shannon off of her and staggered into the house.  Shannon watched this and knew he should leave. It was a moment of weakness. A moment of infatuation that they shared however something had brought him here. Something led him to make love to her, to Ananta and not Crystal. He needed to work out things about Jacob. The real reason he wanted to come to see her.

“Hello?” Ananta said out of breath. “Hey! Are you okay?” Jeff questioned as he noticed her breathing. “Yeah, I was in the shower when I heard the phone ring.” Ananta said as Jeff realized she was doing something she did not need to. “Well Jacob just wanted to say goodnight!” Jeff said. Ananta stood and watched Shannon undress. “Mommie… I just wanted to tell you good night, have sweet dreams and don’t worry Uncle Jeff read me the story of Sleeping cub’s test of courage. Oh and I love you!” Jacob said as he handed the phone back to Jeff. “Are you sure everything is okay?” Jeff questioned again hoping Ananta would say and ease his worries. “I am fine, Jeff, it is just the storm. It happened so fast it nerved me.” Ananta answered as Shannon walked to her and undid her robe. “Okay, I may keep Jacob a little longer tomorrow. At least until tomorrow night.” Jeff said as Ananta moaned quietly. “Umm… that’s cool. Just let me know for sure tomorrow.” “Alright.. I love you.” Jeff said as Ananta mumbled something and hung up the phone.

Crystal sat by the window. She cursed herself for being so honest. There was no telling where he drove off to and in the rain no less. She had to think of how to make this right. Should she let go of this thing against Ananta? It wasn’t like she was after Shannon. She just wanted him to be a part of her son’s life. What was the harm in that? Crystal walked to the phone. She started to dial but realized that there was no dial tone. Damn, she thought as she placed the phone back down. As thunder echoes outside, the power clicked off. Crystal prayed that wherever Shannon was he was safe.

Ananta lay in Shannon’s arms as they sat in front of the glowing fireplace. She wondered why this happened. What had drawn Shannon to her? She sighed as Shannon moved to look at her. “Ananta, what are you thinking?” Shannon asked as Ananta looked into the fireplace. “Why are you here? Why we made love when you are engaged to Crystal?”  Shannon was not sure and could not answer her. “I know this makes no sense but Crystal and I got into a fight about Jacob. It got heated and I left. I sat in my car for 15 minutes and then I drove. I had no idea where I was going and then I pulled in. It had just started raining so I walked to the side porch and thought about us.” Shannon said as he looked up and sighed.  “What do you mean thought about us? There was no us after Jacob. Remember that was too big of a responsibility for you.” Ananta said as she pulled from his embrace.

“Ananta, I never meant for things to happen the way they did. I was doing so much. I was graduating from High school, trying to break into wrestling and then you have Jacob. You needed so much of me. I was not ready for any of that.” Shannon said. “Neither was I. Do you know what my dad did when I told him I was pregnant? He beat the shit out of me Shannon. I almost lost the baby. I called you from the hospital and you were out with Crystal. I knew for then on I was on my own.” Ananta said as she wiped tears away. Shannon sat stunned. “You never told me about this. I mean Jeff never told me. Do you know how I felt when you did come back to school and did not even acknowledge me?” Shannon questioned as Ananta stared at him. “Well at least you did not have to watch me hugged up with another guy every day!” Shannon reached to touch Ananta and she got up. He watched her walk up stairs and thought of what he needed to do next.

Shannon sat and debated the situation. What was it about Crystal that pulled him away from Ananta besides Jacob? He sighed as he heard Ananta curse. “Damn power is out!”  He could not help but laugh as he thought about the first time that they had sex. They had gone up to her parents’ cabin and it rained so hard. “Nanta, you remember the first time we had sex? Kind of reminds you of tonight hun?” Shannon joked as he heard Ananta laugh. “Yeah, and you tried to burn down the cabin when you tried to light the fireplace.” Ananta said as she walked back down stairs and tossed him some clothes. “Ananta, I love you!” Shannon said as Ananta felt a jolt go through her body. She wanted to answer him back but her mind and heart was battling. Luckily her cell phone rang.

“Hello?” Ananta said as she heard Jacob breathing. “Mommie, are you okay?” Jacob whispered. “Yeah baby Mommie is fine. Is Uncle Jeff okay?” Ananta questioned. “Yeah, he is worried about Daddy because Crystal does not know where he is.” Jacob said as Ananta looked at Shannon. “Let me talk with Jeff.” Ananta said as she waited for Jeff to get on the phone. “He is there isn’t he?” Jeff asked bluntly catching Ananta off-guard. “What makes you… Ananta started as Jeff moved out of the bed. “He has been there the whole time. Let me speak to him.” Jeff demanded as Ananta walked and handed Shannon the phone. “Just listen, I want you to make up your mind. It is going to be either Ananta or Crystal. You are not going to run back and forth. I know you slept with her. Don’t do this to her Shannon. She loves you so much. You gave her the most prized possession in her life. She is indebted to you.” Jeff concluded as he hung up the phone. Shannon cut the phone off and bit his lip. Nanta, where do you want me to sleep?” Ananta sighed and realized that tomorrow he would return to Crystal and things would go back to normal. “With me, I want you to hold me and make love to me one last time.” Shannon smiled as he kissed her and led her upstairs.

***8 months later***

Ananta pulled up to the church, First Baptist. That was where Shannon and Crystal were getting married. Jacob was the ring bearer and unfortunately Jeff was not coming into town till tomorrow morning. He was going to be there in time for one rehearsal before the wedding. She and Shannon had a plan. Since he had weekends off, he picked Jacob up on Fridays from daycare and returned him on Monday morning. That way Ananta could hide their indiscretion. Just as she feared that night, she had ended up pregnant. However only Jeff knew she was and then there was a freak event at her work? One of the kids did not get his psychotropic drugs at the set time and as Ananta was giving him a physical he flipped out and sent her into labor three months early.

31 hours later, Ananta gave birth to Emilka Simona. When the nurse asked about the father, Ananta answered he was unknown. She was not going to break up Shannon and Crystal. It did not happen six months ago and it would not happen that day. Ananta reached in and pulled out the car seat. Emilka was a month old and showed strong characteristics. It did not take Beth long to figure out Shannon was the father. Her green eyes were enough not to mention her lips and ears. Jeff and Beth promised not to tell but insisted that Shannon would know it was his child. That was enough for her not to allow them to cross paths. Jacob never talked about her with Shannon. That became apparent when she asked him to pick Jacob up one day because she and Emilka had a doctor’s appointment.

Ananta sighed as she entered the church. Shannon and Crystal had gone all out. She walked and looked for somewhere to sit. She noticed Beth and walked over. “Oh girl, I was worried you wouldn’t get here.” Beth said as Ananta smiled. “I almost called you and asked you to bring him home. Emilka has been fussy all day.” Ananta said as she uncovered the car seat. “She missed her Aunt Beth!” Beth said as she picked her up out of the car seat. Ananta noticed that Crystal had turned and glanced at her. “Okay, sure Beth! You are as bad as Jeff is.” Ananta said as they giggled. “Jacob is going to steal the show. He is just so handsome.” Beth said as Ananta nodded. “When he put his tux on, I wanted to cry.” Beth noticed how Ananta looked at Shannon. “What are you thinking?” Beth quizzed as Ananta looked down. “That this should be Shannon and I.” Beth was about to answer as Jacob ran to his mother. “Mommie, you made it!” Jacob said as he moved to kiss Emilka.

Shannon looked for Jacob. He knew that Ananta would be there soon and did not want her to be uncomfortable. It was bad enough Crystal insisted that Ananta be there to support Jacob. “Uncle Jeff!” He heard Jacob shout and he walked in that direction. “Jacob, my nephew what is up?” Jeff said as he took Jacob in an embrace. “Nothing, I don’t want to wear what I am supposed to wear. I want to wear some khakis and a nice shirt.” Jacob said as he twirled Jeff’s multi-colored hair. “Look, man, I have to wear one too. We will be miserable together.” Jeff said as he sat Jacob down near Ananta. Jeff leaned down and kissed her on the top of her head. Ananta was busy changing Emilka’s diaper. “Hello Jeffie, yes I am almost done so you can hold her.”  Ananta said as Jeff smiled and moved to kiss Beth.

Shannon noticed the little baby girl that Jeff held. She had a head full of jet-black hair like Ananta. She was tiny so she had to be a month old. Jacob had mentioned that she was a premature baby. “Jeff, I didn’t know you were a daddy.” Shannon joked as Jeff smiled. “Nah, this one is Ananta. She is the one that makes the beautiful children. I am just the uncle.” Shannon glanced at Ananta and noticed her yawn. “You ready Jacob?” Ananta said as Jeff frowned. “You know I am coming over right. I need qt with Jacob and Emilka.” Ananta just nodded and stretched her hands out for her baby. Emilka was her second most prized possession. And for some reason, the goddesses placed Shannon there to be the one. “I know! I see you when you get there.” Ananta said as she gathered her kids and left.

“Jeff, who is that baby’s father?” Shannon questioned as Jeff swallowed hard. ”She has never told me. I’ve asked but she has not said as word.” Jeff said as Shannon nodded. Crystal watched and noticed how Shannon watched Ananta leave and knew something was up. Ananta walked to the car and placed Emilka in. Jacob climbed in and immediately began to discuss his day at school; time he spent with his dad and the wedding rehearsal. “Mommie, why can’t you and daddy get married?” Jacob questioned. “Honey, Daddy wants to marry Crystal. You remember we talked about this. We have to respect your daddy’s wishes.” Ananta said as Jacob looked out the window. “But it is not fair when he still loves you.” Jacob said as Ananta looked in her rear view mirror. “What did you just say?” “Daddy was talking with Uncle Mark and he told him that he wished it was you and him getting married.” Jacob repeated, as Ananta felt sick to her stomach.

“Jeff, did you see the way Shannon was scooping on Ananta? Crystal is going to realize something real soon.” Beth said as Jeff nodded. “That’s way I got back as soon as I could. When I was talking with Shannon earlier, he made the comment that before he could marry Crystal Ananta had to tell him something. There was a question that he needed answered.” Jeff said as they pulled into CiCi’s pizza. Beth sighed and got out of the car. “I would love for Shannon to realize what Ananta has to offer but not this way.” Beth said as Jeff took her hand. “You’re right. Ananta feels that he went back to her after they spent the night together. So what would make a difference now?” Jeff questioned as Beth bit her lip. “Would it make a difference if Crystal couldn’t have children?” Beth threw out there. “Considering that Ananta has two of Shannon’s children I would vote yes.” Jeff said as he noticed Jason and looked away.

Jason sat with Kim and looked at his sister. “Did Jeff just say that Emilka is Shannon’s daughter?” Kim asked as she blinked. “Yeah, do you know what that means?” Jason asked as Kim pulled out her cell phone. “I know what I have to do.” Kim said as she dialed Shannon’s number. Shannon sat and flipped through the channels. It was 8 p.m. on a Tuesday night and nothing was on. His cell phone rang and he reached for it. “Hello?” He said as he waited to hear what Kim had to say. “Have you asked Ananta about Emilka’s paternity?” Kim asked, as Shannon felt a little confused. “Why? I have no reason to, if she was mine Ananta would have told me.” Shannon said as Kim sighed. “Shannon, I am not stupid. Okay, you slept with Ananta and she got pregnant. However you stood faithfully by Crystal’s side as if nothing had happened. If I was Ananta I would think that you made your choice and anything after that is up to me.” Kim summarized for Shannon.

Shannon sat and thought about what his sister said. “Kim, let me call you back.” Shannon said as he immediately hung up and dialed Jeff’s cell phone. “Aw Hell!” Beth said as she glanced at the caller id. “I am not answering it. I am not the one he needs answers from.” Jeff said as his phone stopped ringing and then vibrated. Shannon clicked the phone and dialed Ananta. He wondered if what Kim proposed was true.  And if it was, how could she do it. He began to wonder if she really cared for him. “Hello?” Ananta said as Emilka was crying in the background. “Ananta, I need to talk with you.” Shannon said as Emilka got louder. “Shannon, honey, I can barely hear you. Hold on for a minute okay?” Ananta said as Shannon heard her place the phone. “It’s okay Emilka… Shhh… Mommie knows your hungry.” Shannon listened intently. He knew she was breast-feeding. Emilka’s cries turned into whimpers then there was silence.

“Okay, sorry, she was sleep and I gave Jacob a bath and she woke up before I was ready for her to. What’s up?” Ananta asked as Shannon sighed. “Can I come over? There are some things we need to discuss and over the phone is not the best way to do it.” Ananta content that Jacob was laying in the floor about sleep and Emilka was nursing felt it would be okay to talk with someone. “Sure, how long till you are here?” Ananta asked as she checked on Emilka. “Umm… give me like 30 minutes.” Shannon said as he hung up the phone. Ananta shook her head as she wondered why he was coming by. What did they need to discuss? Emilka had stopped nursing and drifted to sleep. Ananta readjusted herself and move to lay Emilka in her bassinet that was downstairs. Ananta kept the crib in her room as she had done with Jacob. Ananta moved to pick Jacob up and there was a knock at the door. Ananta picked him up and walked to the door. “What did you do to my babies?” Jeff asked as he took Jacob from Ananta. “He had a busy day and Emilka sleeps all the time. That is her gimmick okay.” Ananta said as she noticed Jeff’s glances.

“What now Jeff?” Ananta asked as Jeff shook his head. “Let me lay Jacob down. I don’t want you to kill him and me.” Ananta hated when Jeff did not answer her directly. Jeff walked back down stairs and checked on Emilka. “I did not do this on purpose. But Beth and I were at CiCi’s and were talking about your situation with Shannon and all. Well, Kim and Jason were there and overheard us.” Jeff said as all the color left Ananta’s face. “Damn it! That is why he is coming by.” She sat down and placed her head in her hands. “What must he be thinking?” Jeff sat next to her and held her. ”I am not sure I haven’t talked to him. He called but I refused to answer it.” Ananta closed her eyes and prayed it was a dream. She had to do something. “I want you to take Jacob and Emilka with you. I will call you when Shannon leaves.” Ananta said as Jeff wanted to say no but if there was anything Ananta protected it was her kids.

Shannon pulled up and anxiety started to take over. One question was about Emilka. The other would determine if he married Crystal. Jacob said something to him that stung his soul. Ananta was talking with Beth at Chic-fil-a one day. The conversation came up that if Ananta had it to do over again would she have let Shannon go or fight for him. Jacob said she started crying and said she would have fought till the death. He couldn’t shake the last night they were together. As he got out of the car, he sighed as something in the pit of his stomach turn over.  He walked up the front steps and glanced into the window and saw Ananta staring into the fireplace. The glow made her look so beautiful and enticing.

Shannon knocked lightly and Ananta looked towards the door. Her robe fell open as she got up and walked to the door. Shannon noticed the teal 2-piece lace/silk combination she wore. “I am sorry to come over, especially when Jacob has school and with Emilka and all.” Shannon said as he noticed the house was quiet. “Jeff has the kids so it is okay. Does Crystal know you’re here?”  Ananta questioned as she remembered last time. “I left her a note. Nanta, she is the least of our worries. You have to come clean with me.” Shannon said as he grabbed her and pulled her to him. “How much do you love me?” Ananta pulled away from his grip.

“Why do you ask? I mean you are marrying Crystal. You guys dated for four years and this is what you need to do.” Ananta answered. “Ananta please answer me how much do you love me?” Shannon questioned one more time. “I love you enough to let you go. I love you enough to know that we can never be together and that Crystal is what is best for you.” Ananta admitted as she walked and sat in front of the fireplace. “But Ananta I came back to you. That night when it raining heaven and hell, we made love like we were eighteen again. Like nothing else mattered but you and I, you let me go Ananta, why?” Shannon pleaded as he kneeled in front of her. “I let you go because I knew that over the last four years you lost whatever love you had for me and gained it for Crystal.” Ananta said as the tears fell. “Nanta, I never ever stopped loving you. That is why it was hard for me to see Jacob and not want to be with you. Every time I saw you, Lord knows I wanted to take you in my arms and…” Shannon trailed off as Ananta brushed pass him and ran up stairs.

Beth held Emilka as she fed her. “Beth it is taking too long with them talking.” Jeff said as he held Jacob getting out of the bed. “Honey, they have years to admit to and may be move on.” Beth said as Jacob climbed on the couch and placed his head in Beth’s lap. “Are you okay, buddy?” Jeff asked as he sat on the floor in front of him. “I want my Mommie!” Jacob said as tears started to fall. Jeff reached up and took Jacob in his arms. “Jacob, Mommie is working through some things. But she should be calling soon.” Jeff said as he held him and comforted him. Beth watched Emilka as she started to frown up. “Oh Emilka, sweetie, no, it is okay.” Beth said as she placed the little girl on her shoulder. Jeff looked at Beth and realized that something had to happen soon.

Shannon walked upstairs and knocked at her bedroom door. “Go away, Shannon!” Ananta said as Shannon entered anyways. Shannon noticed her tears and debated on asking about Emilka. “Nanta, I need to know one more thing. Am I Emilka’s father?” Shannon asked as Ananta looked at her daughter’s crib. She wanted to say no and say it was someone else’s. But that wouldn’t work. If Jeff mentioned that Emilka was Shannon’s then it was like God said it. “Yes, she is yours. I didn’t tell you because you left me that morning and never looked back. I did not want to go through all that again. Trying to get you to be there and then let’s not go there about Crystal.” Ananta said as Shannon took his ponytail down. He knew that Ananta loved the way his hair fell. “Do you know that I have wondered if I was meant to be with you. I mean we have two kids together and we can’t stay away from each other. If I knew that you would let me, I would make love to you right now.” Shannon said as he leaned into kiss her. Ananta met his kiss and Shannon removed her robe. Ananta ran her fingers through his hair. Shannon moved on his back and pulled Ananta on top of him. Ananta broke the kiss and sat up. She removed her top and Shannon was mesmerized.

Ananta smiled devilishly as she moved to the top of the bed. Shannon watched as she pulled her bottoms off and waited for him. He knew that he wanted her. But Crystal entered his thoughts and he debated endlessly about what he was about to do. “Hold on, let me make a call.” Shannon said as he sat on the bed. “Shannon, I am going to take some clothes to Jeff’s for the kids. Take your time to get your composure. I want you to do what you think is right. If you are to be with me, then fine. If not, remember I love you!” Ananta said as she reached to put on some clothes and left the room. She grabbed Emilka’s diaper bag and packed her some things. She knew she had to pump her some milk. She then walked to Jacob’s room and got his backpack. She reached and got him some clothes. “I’ll be back!” Ananta said to Shannon as she walked down the stairs.

Shannon heard the door close and thought. He debated his feelings for both women. He cared for Crystal. They were together for four years. He had wondered about if she had planned to be with him forever. He also cared for Ananta. Every time he saw her his heart skipped a beat. It was like she had a hold of his heart and did not know it. Shannon sighed as his cell phone rang. “Hello?” Shannon said as he answered the phone. “Shannon, this is Crystal. Look, I have been thinking okay. I need you to answer me a question.” She said as she sniffled. “Where are you right now?”  Shannon wanted to lie. “I am at Ananta’s.” Shannon answered as Crystal exhaled noisily. “Shannon, why do you keep running back to her? Don’t you love me?” Crystal asked as Shannon thought about it. Did he love her?

Ananta pulled into Jeff and Beth’s and sighed. She walked up to the door and immediately heard Emilka. “Hey girl!” She said as Emilka trailed off on her crying. “Umm… Jacob can stay but Emilka is not weaned from Mommie.” Beth said as she handed her Emilka and took Jacob’s things. “Hey you got her to stop…” Jeff said as he entered the room. “Can you take Jacob to preschool in the morning?” Ananta questioned as Jeff looked at her. “Why?” Ananta shrugged. “I am either going to be too depressed or too tired to do it.” She said as Jeff looked at her. “You mean you and Shannon are still talking.” Jeff said as Ananta nodded. “When I left him, he was going to make a decision. If his car is still there then he chose me. If not, then it is cool. I have two beautiful children to show for it.” Ananta said as Jeff hugged her. “Call if you need me!” Jeff said as she left.

Crystal, I care so much for you but caring for you is not going to make a marriage.” Shannon said as Crystal released tears again. She knew things had changed but not so drastically that Shannon didn’t want to marry her. He wanted to wait until after they were married to have sex. He decided that over six months ago. Damn, she thought. She tried to get him to sleep with her countless times but with no success. Then her heart sunk when she walked in on him masturbating. “So, are you calling off the wedding or should I?” Crystal asked as Shannon sighed. “You call your family and I’ll call mine. I’ll call the caters and all. I will get the deposits back and send you your half.” Shannon said as Crystal just hung up the phone.

Shannon removed his shirt and took his shoes off. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to ask Crystal to move out. He would wait until she could find a place to stay. He stood up and removed his pants. He needed a shower to clear his head. For some reason, Ananta had some of Shannon’s clothes and he reached to get a pair of boxers. He headed to the shower, feeling relief and waiting for the joy of his life to return.  Ananta pulled into her driveway and could not help but smile. She had her Shannon back. She noticed the bathroom light and laughed. Apparently he had no problem making himself at home. Ananta grabbed Emilka and her bags and headed into the house. She wanted to scream as the phone rang. “Hello?” Ananta said as she placed the bags on the floor. “Okay, Jacob had a nightmare and wanted you. Jeff should be there shortly. So, was he still there?” Beth questioned as Ananta smiled. “Yeah, but he could be telling me that I am not the one.” Beth laughed. “It is 10 p.m. girl, he is in for the night. Chalk one up for the Ananta!” Beth joked as Ananta noticed Jeff pull up. “Okay, girl, your man is here. I will talk with you tomorrow!”

Ananta opened the door and Jeff leaned to kiss her. Ananta smiled as he walked upstairs and placed Jacob in his bed. Jeff sat Jacob’s things on the floor. Jeff walked back down stairs and looked at Ananta. “Is this what you want? Is he what you want?” Ananta smiled as she looked at him. “I hate to say it but yeah!” Jeff hugged her and left. Ananta locked the door and walked upstairs. She checked on Jacob and walked to her room. She laid Emilka in her crib and started to change back into her pajamas. “Wait, I do believe we started something earlier.” Shannon said as he walked up behind her. “Yeah but the baby is in the crib and Jacob is in the bed.” Ananta said as she placed her top on and pulled her bottoms up. “You are such a tease.” Shannon said as he kissed her. Ananta moved them towards the bed. Shannon broke the kiss to close and lock the door.

Ananta got on the bed and waited for Shannon. He climbed on top of her and kissed her. Ananta submitted to him all she had. Shannon reached and pulled her bottoms off. Ananta leaned up and removed her top. Shannon reached down and removes his bottoms. He wanted to enter her. He had denied himself until he could have her again. Ananta smiled as he entered her. Shannon heard noises coming from Emilka’s crib. “Don’t worry, as long as she is not crying, she is okay.” Ananta said as Shannon leaned down and kissed her neck. Emilka began to whimper as Ananta turned Shannon over on his back. As Shannon exploded inside of Ananta, Emilka began her cries of loneliness.

Shannon placed Ananta easily on the bed. He walked over and picked Emilka up. Ananta smiled as Emilka stopped for a minute. Once she realized it was not her Mommie holding her, she began to wail. “Ananta, what am I doing wrong?” Shannon questioned as he brought Emilka to her.  “She doesn’t know you yet.” Ananta said as she reached for her pajama top and placed it on. “Can you breast feed through that?” Shannon questioned as Ananta looked at him. “Don’t get any ideas okay? The milk in these are for the baby.” Ananta said as Shannon smiled. “But that is a long way to the kitchen to get something to drink.” Ananta shook her head and realized the door was still locked. “Hey, unlock the door. Jacob will be up before we think about it in the morning.” Ananta said as Shannon paused to pull on his boxers. “Is it raining?” Shannon questioned as he walked to the window. As the lightning flashed, Ananta flinched.  “I guess it is true.” Shannon said as Ananta glanced at him. “What saying?” “You know it is that song. On all those rainy days… Spend ya lifetime tryin’ to wash away… Until the sun shines and I see your face…Smile at me, smile at me.” Shannon sang as Ananta smiled and pulled him to her. As Shannon wrapped his arms around her, Jacob peeked in the door. Jacob smiled and tipped back to his room. Finally, everything is as it is suppose to be. Jacob thought as he laid down to sleep.
