Summary: Buffy finally sees the light

Warning: Character Death

"What in the...” Buffy stood at the door to the crypt. Spike scrambled off the bed and towards the Slayer "Luv it's not what you think". "So your not screwing Darla on the bed then, it's just my imagination", she glared at him. Darla got up and walked naked over to Spike. "Guess you weren't women enough for him little girl", she smirked.

"Maybe", Buffy shot back. "But Angel seemed to think i was good enough", she knew it would sting Spike but she just didn't care. "I'm coming back tonight and if you and your whore aren't out of Sunnydale, this story will have a very dusty ending". She looked at the vampire in disgust and stormed out of the crypt.

She stormed into Willy's bar and was still there hours later when Spike found her. He walked over to the bar and sat on a stool. "How much has she had?', he asked Willy looking over at the Slayer who was sitting at a table with a bunch of vampires. "Two bottles and they've been buying her drinks as well", he answered handing Spike a glass of blood. He took it flung a bill on the bar and walked over to the table.

"Slayer", he interrupted. "Can we talk". "Get lost Spike", one of them growled. Buffy didn't even acknowledge him. She was too busy staring at the blonde who had just walked in. She stood up and walked past him to make her way over to the newcomer. Spike tried to get to her but was stopped by the group. "Get out now traitor", the tallest one growled. "What so you'll speak to the slayer but not me", he started laughing. "She doesn't deny what she is. You are supposed to kill humans not go to tea with them. No take her advice and get out of town". Spike knew it was useless to interrupt but as he walked past Buffy and the stranger he vowed before long she would be his.

"So what's your name. Not fair that you know mine", she smiled at him. "I'm Chris", he smiled. "So Chris what do you do", she asked moving closer to him. She knew him from somewhere but couldn't put her finger on it. "Oh i'm …an electrician", he grinned. Buffy knew he wasn't telling her the whole truth but she wasn't the one to talk about keeping secrets.

They talked for hours and nothing at all and had just got into a conversation about which their favorite Power Ranger was when Willy walked over. "Sorry Buf, i've got to lock up", he shrugged. "S'okay Wil", she smiled getting up from the table. "So you coming back to mine", she held out her hand. He paused for a minute before taking in and standing up to follow her out the door.

"Been waiting for you", she turned around to see Spike leaning against the wall. "What do you want William", she frowned at him. "Where's your slut?", she asked walking past him. "Am i interrupting something?", Chris was nervous. He didn't like the look of this. The man looked dangerous and he was afraid he was going to hurt Buffy. He fell onto Buffy who turned around just in time to see Darla in front of her before was hit in the back of the head.

"Bloody hell", Buffy stood up wondering what the hell had just happened. Looking around she couldn't find Chris and started worrying. He wasn't anywhere to be seen. She ran all the way to the house. "We have a problem", she yelled storming through the door. Giles and Willow walked into the living room. "Spike's kidnapped somebody..."Is that all", Giles interrupted

Wondering why Buffy was so wound up. "He's working with Darla", she said walking over to the weapons. The whole room went silent. Buffy retrieved some stakes and her crossbow and walked out the door. "But Buff...", she never heard the end of the sentence.

As she walked along the street, she knew exactly where they would be. Slowly walking into the Mansion she made her way to the basement. Opening the door she saw Chris chained to the wall. Obviously a left over from Angelus. She put her finger to her lip and walked over to them. "Where are they?", she whispered as she let him down. "Upstairs waiting for you", he groaned. He was hurting all over. He had never bled this much even in the ring.

Go to this address she said handing him a slip of paper and wait for me there. She walked up the stairs and straight into the trap that she knew was waiting for her. 'Buffy", Spike smiled. Darla was standing at the other end of the room at the fireplace. "Let’s get this over with", she growled her patience had run out. He stood up and walked slowly over to her. Yeah really sexy she thought stopping herself just in time before she started laughing. "This ends tonight", he purred at her as he traced his finger along her jawline. "Got that right", she smiled. "I'm going to do something i should have done years ago", she looked at him

His eyes were burning with love for her. See that's what got to her. He said he was devoted to her yet thought nothing about jumping into bed with someone else. His mistake was closing his eyes. As soon as he did she brought out the stake that was hidden in her sleeve and put it through his heart. He didn't even have time to open them before he exploded into dust. Clap, clap, clap, she turned around to see Darla laughing.

"Got to be honest Buffy. I was getting ready to do it if you hadn't". Buffy stormed over to her but was stopped by the shot that rung out. Looking down she saw the hole in her chest. "No", she screamed. She wasn't scared of dying. She just didn't want it to be Darla who killed her. Gritting through the pain she grabbed a hold of Darla and with strength even she didn't know she had pulled the female vampire's head straight off her shoulder.

She tried to make it to the door but collapsed and that's where Chris found her. "Christ Buffy", he groaned running over to her. "I thought i told you to get lost", she smiled as he lifted her head onto his lap. There was blood everywhere and she knew this was it. This time there would be no going back. She was brought out her thoughts by something wet falling on her face. Looking up she saw Chris was crying. He kept whispering "my fault, my fault", over and over again.

With the last bit of strength she had left she moved her hand over his face and wiped away the tears. That's when it came to her "You liar your a wrestler. Your second names Benoit". She smiled up at him. He actually started laughing before bending down and kissing her. "So what's what i had to do to make you kiss me", she grinned. It got him going again.

"Hey Mr tough guy", she shook him. "It's ok really. I've lived longer than i should have", she got comfy. "And i get to see my mommy again", she started to tremble before bursting into tears. "I've missed her so much". He cuddled her to him before realizing she hadn't moved. She was gone. The protector of the world was finally dead and this time she wasn't coming back.

The funeral was held at night as a lot of vampires wanted to come and pay their respects to the girl. They might not have liked her but she did have their respect. Chris stayed and a few of the wrestlers turned up. They wanted to find out about this young woman that had stolen and broken his heart in such a short time. And they wanted to say goodbye to him.

He had decided to stay in Sunnydale to help Giles and the Scooby Gang. He had asked them about Buffy and had realized he wanted to take over from where she left off. He might not be as good as her but he could help in his own way. Which was why he was in the middle of a cemetery now dusting himself off. He didn't notice the girl behind him smiling as she sat on the tombstone. "You would have liked him Mom", she smiled at the other woman standing beside her. "No honey, i wouldn't", she shot back. "But you wouldn't have had it any other way". Linking arms they both walked out of Sunnydale and out of existence. Buffy might be gone she would never ever be forgotten
