Hated…

“Hey!”

He turned to see a girl about his age with both her hands planted on her hips.

“My Mermaid’s Palace!”

“What?” He said wishing she’d hurry up, the ice cream cones he held in both his hands were starting to melt in this heat.

“You are standing in my sea horse corral.”

The boy lifted his foot and sure enough he had indeed been standing in her ‘Mermaid’s Palace’.

Pffft! Girls!” He grumbled turning away from her to stalk off before he caught any of her girl germs.

Argh!” She shrieked before he could take another step. “My Jellyfish Tunnel!”

Again he looked down to see his other foot in a pile of sand that to him just looked like a pile of sand – ‘Not’ a jellyfish tunnel as she had called it.

He shrugged.

“So build another one.”

He said again turning to continue on his way.

He expected her to go cry to her mommy like all the other yucky girls he knew and that’d be the end of it. But this yucky girl wasn’t like all the other yucky girls and a few moments later he found that out when she tipped the contents of her sand bucket over his head.

The little boy stood still and watched as the sand rolled off him sticking to his skin where the ice cream had dripped down his arms. He opened his mouth and let forth the biggest wail she had ever heard.

“You’re a mean nasty girl and I hate you for ever!” He cried before running off the two ice cream cones he’d held in his hands only moments before now lay in the sand at her feet.

“So, I hate you for ever plus one!” She called after him before retrieving her spade and running off in the opposite direction.

Dated…

AN: Skips a head some years. They are no longer children, but not yet adults either.

“I can’t believe I’m doing this. You know I promised myself I would never do this.”

Lita groaned and not for the first time that night.

“Will you just relax, it’s just a date.”

“Ah… hello? It’s not just a date – It’s a ‘blind’ date. Big difference.”

“Yeah well you trust me right?”

“Sometimes…” Victoria grumbled under her breath.

“I wouldn’t set you up with a dufus and Matt’s brother is a total drool fest… at least he is in all the photo’s I’ve seen. He goes to boarding school you know.”

“I know.” Victoria said rolling her eyes. Lita had only told her about a thousand times.

“I swear if I weren’t in love with Matt I would go after him myself.”

“Lita!”

Both girls turned at the sound of Matt’s voice and Victoria’s jaw dropped at who she saw with him.

“That’s Matt’s brother!”

“That’s Lita’s best friend!”

Matt and Lita shared a look.

“You two know each other?” Matt asked looking from his brother to his girlfriend’s best friend.

“No!” Jeff cried and Matt and Lita would have believed him too… had Victoria not shouted “Yes!” at the same time and then with her next breath “No!” just as he himself cried “Yes!”

Jeff’s nostrils flared and Victoria’s eyes were two dark slits.

“Well, which is it?” Matt asked. “Yes or no.”

Jeff may have been ten years old at the time of there first encounter on the beach, but he remembered every bit of embarrassment she had caused him. And every bit of hatred he had felt there after.

“Our paths have crossed.” He finally replied his eyes sending there own private message of loathing to the raven haired girl.

“Great!” Lita said slipping her arm through Matt’s. “No need for ice breaking conversation then. Shall we go? Dinner and the back row of a movie theatre a waits.”

Mated…

**

The sounds coming from the back row of the movie theatre were a testament to the fact that it’s only two occupants were doing something other then watching the movie.

When Victoria saw how empty the theatre was she knew straight away why Lita had chosen tonight of all nights to come, a marathon of Shirley Temple Classic’s was in full swing and why shouldn’t it be, Victoria mused, after all how many Shirley Temple fans hauled there cookies to an 11pm session on a Tuesday night? Her gaze swept the theatre again and she mentally counted all six heads – Not including those of her companions.

Jeff followed Matt and Lita to the back row while she chose a seat a few rows from the back and started to quickly count backward from ten to zero. On the count of four Jeff had joined her.

“They always like that?” He leaned closer to her to whisper.

“Twenty-four seven,” She replied glad that the movie had started, the sound of the opening credits blocking the sounds of passion that were coming from behind them. But try as she might she couldn’t get the thought of what was happening in that back row out of her mind and she shifted uncomfortably in her chair.

“You okay?” Jeff again leaned closer to ask.

“Yeah…” She swallowed. “Great.”

“You sure?”

She turned her head to him to nod not trusting herself to speak and found her face so close to his that she could feel his breath on her cheeks. And then she lifted her head and the next thing she knew they were locked at the mouth, her tongue trying to out do his as they battled to see who could get down whose throat the furtherest.

What the hell was he doing? Jeff’s mind screamed at him, but right there and then nothing in this world would have made him stop – No matter how forbidden… or how much he hated her. All he knew was his once roomy jeans were now very, very constricting and he damn near purred in pleasure when he felt her fingers fumbling with the clasp. And then he was free, the arm rest that stood as a barrier between them pulled up and he was banging into her like a jack hammer at full pelt!

**

Well,” Lita whispered to Victoria when Matt and Jeff dropped them off outside Lita’s house. “Did you have fun?”

**

…And back to Hated

**

Victoria, there’s someone here to see you!”

“I’m not here.” She grumbled from beneath her pillow.

“Well I wish you had of told me that before I let him in.”

Victoria sat up so fast that her doona did a flip flop before landing in a heap at the end of the bed and it was a few moments before she realised she’d slept with out pyjama bottoms. She squealed as modesty kicked in and scrambled off the bed to the other side. Red faced and with bed hair she peeped over the edge to see the biggest grin she had even seen on Lita’s face, while Jeff looked more put out then anything else.

Victoria lifted her chin and met his gaze. She didn’t see why he should look put out – She wasn’t the one who had disturbed his beauty sleep.

“Can I help you with something?” She said spying her robe on the floor beside her. She snatched it up and slipped it on tying it securely before getting to her feet.

“I’ll just leave you two alone…” Lita said starting for the door. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” They heard her call out in a sing song voice even though she was no longer in the room.

Jeff took the steps needed to take him to the door and gently shut it before turning back to face Victoria.

“How are you?” He asked after a few minutes of silence passed.

She shrugged and replied sarcastically.

“Hey, I got laid in a movie theatre – I’m on top of the world.”

His brows furrowed as he looked at her, taking in her rumpled clothes and messy locks.

“Yeah,” He said letting his eyes move up to met hers again. “You look on top of the world.”

“Is this visit going to end any time soon?” She asked snarkily crossing her arms under her chest. “Cause you know I have a busy schedule today. Places to go, people to see… and hey if I’m lucky I might get laid by a total stranger again.”

He shook his head and his lip curled in distaste.

“Why the hell did I come here.” He said turning to the door.

“Oh, I don’t know – Guilt maybe?”

His hand paused on the door knob.

“I didn’t hear you complaining last night in fact you were doing just the opposite.”

“In your dreams!”

“No, not really, but ten bucks says I’ve been in yours.”

“Creep.”

“Tease.”

“Prick.”

He pulled the door open.

“You know screw you… and last night. I’m outta here.”

He slammed the door as he left, but it only opened again a few seconds later.

“Best news I’ve had all morning!” He heard her yell down the hallway.

How could he have thought they could talk about what had happened like the two civilized adults that they… well ‘He’ was.

“Witch.” He grumbled. When it came to Victoria and the emotion ‘Hate’ – The two went hand in hand.

**

Victoria paced the limited floor space there room allowed and clenched her fists to keep from reaching out for something to throw at the closed door.

“Idiot.” She grumbled and promptly walked to the bookshelf and grabbed her dictionary. She opened it and found the word ‘Hate’ where she wrote next to it in big bold letters – ‘Jeff Hardy’.
