Shane sat
and noticed Amina as she walked through the
Buckley’s. She was his conquest. She noticed him and smiled. She thought he was
joking when he called and wanted to take her out. She had talked with her
friends in the business and they told her he was a stand up guy. She placed her
tray down at the bar and walked over to him. Shane looked up from his salad and
smiled. She was walking over to him. Men said they envied him because he worked
with Torrie, Stacy, Trish or who ever. He envied the men who saw Amina everyday and didn’t notice that she was far better
than those divas. She had natural beauty and style.
Amina
sat at the table and returned Shane’s smile. “I should be done in a couple
minutes.” She said as she caressed his hand. “That’s cool. I placed us a “to
go” order. I want you all to myself tonight.” Shane said as he took her hand in
his. Amina felt herself blush. For a straight year,
he had pursued her and she always had an excuse not to spend the night with
him, not travel with him and anything that involved being alone with him. But
now it was different. He had literally worn her down. He was not deterred by
her actions, and that made him more attractive. “That’s cool; do you want to
stop for movies or something?” Amina said as she felt
their hands intertwine and mingled.
“Nope, girl, you know I have more DVDs that Blockbuster. I brought a few
that should interest you.” Shane said as he looked into her eyes. He would be
lying if he said he did not want to experience all of her but just being able
to hold her would be more than enough for him. “Wow, Mr. Helms someone is
confident and organized.” Amina said as she moved
from the table.

Shane stood
by his car and waited for Amina. She had to cash in
her tips and get the food. She had received a ride to work so he could take her
home. He had talked to her friend; Mystic and she gave him a heads up on movies
she liked. Lucky for him, he had at least three of them. Shane glanced up and
thought about the situation. He had actually let her lead and decide how things
develop. Normally he would sweet talk, fuck and then decide that they should be
friends. He only did that to resist the pain of rejection. Damn, Lucy, she
strung him along till she got what she wanted and dumped him. He hated to admit
that he was blind to her ways but she was such a damn con artist. Then one
night after a show, he and guys came and ate at Buckley’s. Amina
was their waitress and he macked from the moment he
saw her. She shot him down but there was something about him that intrigued
her. She gave him her number and the cat and mouse game began.
Amina
sighed as she grabbed the food and walked out the door. She smiled as she
noticed Shane leaning against his car. She laughed to herself as she thought
about what Mystic had said. He may look confident but he is just like you,
afraid of being hurt. Amina really thought about it.
She had a right to be overprotected of herself. She
was never taught to be. She was naïve and every guy she hooked up with figured
that out. So she changed her image. She became resilient and got a backbone. She
refused to be easy for anyone ever again. “You ready?” Amina
questioned from behind him. “Yeah, let me unlock your door.” Shane said as he
walked around to the passenger side. Amina let out a
laugh as Shane unlocked her door. “What? Have no one ever opened a door for
you?” Shane questioned as he moved to stand in front of her. He looked in her
eyes and could have sealed the deal right there. “Umm, no not since you can
unlock them electronically.” Amina said as she moved
to place the food in the backseat.

Amina
walked from the kitchen with utensils and some Smirnoff. Shane looked at her
and she sat the glass down. “Umm… Amina not to be
rude but I am not drinking.” Shane said as Amina
glanced at him. “It’s too late for you to drive home.” Amina
said as Shane felt something jump inside of him. “It’s not that… I am really
particular about what I place in my body.” Shane said as Amina
smiled. “No problem, what do you want then?” She questioned as she drank half
of the glass. “Some tea would be alright.” Shane said as Amina
nodded. “Let me warn you I make mine real sweet.” She said as she walked into
the kitchen and returned with a pitcher and a frozen mug. “What movie? We have
Exit Wounds, Powder or Unbreakable.” Shane said as Amina
sat on the couch and removed her shoes. “Damn, I like all three. Which one do
you want to see?” Amina said as Shane noticed her
rubbing her foot. “Well, Powder and Unbreakable are like drama and Exit Wounds
is an action one. I have a suggestion; how about we watch Powder, Exit Wounds then
Unbreakable.” Shane suggested as Amina nodded.
“I am going to eat and then shower.
Did you bring anything to sleep in?” Amina asked as
she opened her box. Shane knew he was blushing. “Amina,
I hadn’t planned on staying tonight. I was going to stay at Matt or Jeff.”
Shane said as he opened his food as well. “Shane, that is 30 minutes away and

Shane noticed the photo albums on
the bookshelf and decided to browse. He smiled as the first one he grabbed was
obviously from high school. Her and Mystic were tight
as can be. They did stats for football and wrestling. They were always
together. Shane noticed the many guys that apparently Amina
dated. He noticed how she never really smiled. Not like she did in the other
pictures. He paused as he saw her Homecoming picture. She was wearing a
beautiful dark blue strapless dress. She
had been everything in high school. Mystic said that she always sold herself
short. She could have easily been a model. Shane heard the shower cut off and
he placed the album back. He moved to check out her movie collection. She was
not far behind him in the DVD collection. They had similar tastes. Shane moved
back to her bookshelf and checked out her reading supply. They had only one
author in common and that was Stephen King.
“I’ll be down in a minute, Shane,” Amina called. “Take your time.” Shane responded as he heard
her chuckle. Shane noticed a shelf of books without names. He grabbed the
purplish black one and opened to a random page. He immediately put it back when
he noticed her handwriting. Amina had explained that
there were things that had haunted her and the only way to expel them were by
releasing them. Her way was through writing. He didn’t read it because she had
not shared it with him. He did not know what to expect and was not going to
fuck things up now. He moved back to the couch as Amina
walked downstairs. “I hope I didn’t take too long.” Amina
said as she grabbed Powder and moved to place it in the dvd player. “Nah, it all good.
You smell good so it is understandable. What fragrance is that?” Shane asked as
she sat down next to him. “Moonlight path, it’s one of

“Do you
mind if I lay on you?” Amina asked as Shane was
stretching his legs. “No, come on over.” Shane answered as Amina
smiled. Shane wrapped one arm around her and placed the other on the edge of
the couch. They talked about different things as Powder played in the
background. Amina loved the way he was making her
feel. No more than he was doing and she was content. “Then they came to me and
asked if I ever thought about being a superhero and that is how I became the
Hurricane.” Shane said as he noticed that Powder was ending. “Are we watching
Exit Wounds next?” Shane questioned, as Amina did not
answer. “Amina?” Shane said
as he gently tapped her shoulder. “What?” She said as she sat up and stretched.
“I didn’t realize that you were sleep. I could have carried you upstairs and
left.” Shane said as he moved her hair from her face. Amina
laughed. “I am not as light as I look. Plus I would have been mad if you would
have left me. Come on; let’s go upstairs, Exit Wounds is showing on HBO.” Amina said as she grabbed Shane by the hand.
“Are you
sure?” Shane questioned as Amina looked at him.
“Very, I want you near me tonight Mr. Helms.” Amina
said seductively as Shane smiled at her. Amina felt a
little nervous. She was going to have a man in her bed after a year. She
exhaled deeply as she opened her bedroom door. “Wow, I like the way you have it
in here.” Shane said to take the sexual tension down a bit. “Yeah, I like the
canopy although some think the saris are a bit much.” Amina
admitted as she turned from him and removed her bra. “Nah, I think they make it
romantic and all.” Shane said as he stepped out of his pants. “Okay, in case I
fall asleep. The bathroom is right there. Toilet paper is under the sick and
the towels are in the closet in the hall.” Amina said
as she moved some of the pillows off the bed. Shane smiled as he noticed her
lying down in the bed. “Umm, how long has it been since you shared a bed with
someone?” Shane questioned as Amina realized she was
in the middle of the bed. “Oh, silly me!” She answered
as she moved to the other side of the bed. “It’s cool, I wasn’t sure if you
wanted me to be that close or what.” Shane answered as he climbed in and got
settled. Amina cut the TV on and then reached for her
scrunchie and brush. Shane watched as she brushed her
hair and then braided it. Simply beautiful, he thought as Amina
got comfortable. Shane propped up and watched the movie.

Shane noticed half way through the
movie Amina had fallen asleep. He moved to lay her
down and instead she reached up and caressed his face. “Mmm, Shane!” She said softly as he positioned her
more on her back. “Amina, I am here.” Shane answered
as she continued to touch him. She moved from his face to his shoulders and
rubbed his back. Shane wanted to pull away. She was dreaming so all of this
could not be real. As if she could read his thoughts she withdrew her hands and
turned over. Shane sighed and lay back down. He was so close to having her but
it was not how it was supposed to be. He reached for the remote and set the
sleep time. He had achieved his goal for the night; he was lying next to her.
Shane closed his eyes and drifted to sleep.
Amina
woke up with the urgency to go to the bathroom. She moved to the bathroom and
relieved herself. As she was about to turn off the light, she noticed Shane
lying peaceful in her bed. She inhaled as she realized that he was probably the
best thing that would come her way ever. She walked
back to climb in the bed and stretched as she did. Shane heard her as she
stretched and got back into to bed. He waited for her to get settled and leaned
over to embrace her. Shane smiled as she welcomed his embrace. Amina turned and faced him. She searched the dark to find those
familiar features she loved about him. She hated it was so dark cause she would
love to look into his eyes. They were always caring and inquisitive. Shane
licked his lips as she caressed his face. He instinctively moved his hands up
and down her back. Amina
closed her eyes as he leaned in to kiss her. Shane pulled her so close that
they could have become one. He broke the kiss and moved to kiss on her neck and
heard her moan.

Amina
opened her eyes as she heard a knock at her door. Shane glanced at her and
tried to read her emotions. “Were you expecting anyone?” Shane questioned. “No, only you. Let me go check!” Amina
said, as she wanted to kill who ever was interrupting her getting her groove
on. Amina looked in the peephole and wanted to
scream. “What do you want Matt?” Amina asked as Matt
looked in the peephole. “I want to know what’s going on in there.” Matt
responded as Amina cracked the door. “Why? Shane’s
okay.” Amina said as Matt looked at her. “Well, let
me talk with him.” Amina rolled her eyes and let him
in. “Shane, your father is here to check on you.”
Shane walked downstairs pulling up
his pants. He noticed Amina as she marched back up
stairs. Matt looked at Shane and smiled. “So you hit it right? Let’s go then we
can still catch the guys at the club.” Shane glanced at Matt and shook his
head. “No, I haven’t hit it. Is that why you stopped by here?” Shane questioned
as Matt looked at him. “Come on Shane, you have been here how long? I know you
aren’t falling for her.” Matt said as Amina walked
down the stairs and tossed Shane his shirt. “May be it is best that you go. I
mean I am starting to get a headache. You can lock the door on your way out.” Amina walked up the steps and slammed her door. “I swear
Matt; you pissed me the hell off sometimes. She’s not a fuck, Damnit!” Shane said as he pulled his shoes on. Matt noticed
Shane’s mood and rolled his eyes. “Shane, you act like I can read your mind and
shit. Apparently she saw through your smooth act anyways.” Matt said as they
left.

Shane drove past Amina and noticed her bedroom light was on. Despite better
judgment he stopped. He wanted to explain what had happened earlier. He wasn’t
out to just fuck her. Hell if that was the case, and then he would have given
up a long time ago. He knocked on the door and heard her window open. “What do
you want Helms?” Amina shouted down at him. “I want
to come in.” Shane said as Amina laughed. “What? You
didn’t get lucky at the club.” Amina said as Shane
sighed. “No, cause I was only lucky when I was with you.” Amina
glanced down at him and shook her head. “And why is that Helms?” “You are the
most beautiful woman I have ever met. Damn girl if I was after your cha-cha
then I would have left you alone a long time ago. You’re like web I don’t want
to get out of.” Shane said as he heard the window close.
Shane turned from the door and
decided to leave. She didn’t believe him. His old ways were shining through
bright and clear. He started to walk off the porch as he heard the lock click
and the door open. Amina’s braid was long gone and
she had mini braids on her head. Mystic explained that she braids to release
the pain and frustration. “I am a web, huh?” Amina
questioned as he walked to her. “Something likes that. I apologize for Matt.”
Shane began as Amina pulled him into the house as
well as a passionate kiss. “Matt’s a pain in the ass and something we are not
discussing. I think we were in the middle of something upstairs.” Amina said as she looked into Shane’s eyes. “Yeah, I think
it was this.” Shane said as he moved to kiss on her neck again. Amina whimpered as he did. She pulled away and started
upstairs. “Come on, Hurricane! I need some hurri-loving
tonight.” Shane quickly followed and realized that may be he was dreaming this.
He was about to make love with someone who meant something. He laughed to
himself and thought, let me dream on then!
