Summary: Maria tries to deal with her baggage

Randy sat and watched Maria as she moped. He had talked with her about her feelings for Dave. They had a pretty good relationship until Stephanie decided to stalk claim on him as her name prize. Maria had fought to work through everything. She immersed herself with her job, friends, and hobbies. Somehow, Dave and herself always ended up in close predicaments.

Randy moved to her table and tried to get her to smile. Maria had begun to date Tyson but Randy knew Tyson was no Dave. Dave knew how to read her mind without her saying a word. Randy wanted to see them back together. But he knew that Stephanie held an intimidation factor over Maria. Randy tried to encourage Maria into realizing that she had Dave’s heart.

Maria decided to go think without Randy. Although what he was saying to her was true, she had nothing to stand on to prove it. She could not get fifty feet within him much less two inches without Stephanie popping up. She tried voicemail but Stephanie always answered them. Her emails were the same way. Her letters became confetti. He would smile that smile to her and she would drift back.

Maria passed by his locker room. She heard him curse and knew it had to do with him packing. She stopped and without debate, she entered the room.

“You need some help?” Maria questioned

“Uh.. Yeah… actually Stephanie has me meeting some of her family and …” Dave stopped as he noticed her folding his clothes. She used to make sure nothing wrinkled. She knew how to use an iron or simple stream from a hot shower that they normally shared. He was rambling because if he didn’t his heart would speak.

He loved her but politics got in the way. He wanted to hold her and make everything better. He caught the smell of her shampoo. She was using kiwi melon. He wanted to reach out to her because he felt like she had something to tell him.

“I feel like you need to tell me something.” Dave inquired as he touched her hair.

“I do but not now.” Maria confessed as she stepped away.

“I’ve got time… go ahead.” Dave said as he cleared his throat.

“No, it can wait just not for long.” Maria stated as she began to leave.

“Oh, thanks for helping me pack.” Dave said as he looked at the suitcase.

“No problem… everyone needs help with their baggage, right?”
