"Connor... open this door at once."
"No."
Willow so had her resolve face on but what good could it do if the little person who was on the receiving end of her ever powerful resolve face
couldn't see it! "Angel and Cordy are so going to kill me..." she grumbled allowing herself to slide down the locked bathroom door little Connor had decided to lock himself in. She, bad ass Wicca who had fought all kinds of evil nasties and hell god's was at a loss as to how to get a little boy out of a bathroom. 'This could put me off having
kid's altogether... who's idea was it for me to baby sit anyways... oh yeah... mine... me and my big mouth..."
"Connor..."
"No!"
Turning her head a little she called back through the door. "Fine, stay there then." Hearing a little 'humph' in response she allowed her gaze to rove into the bedroom across from her, her spare bedroom that she had set up for Connor's stay. She could see the sky outside, it was too pretty a day to be stuck inside trying to talk a 5yr old out of a locked bathroom... then it struck her... 'Of course... the window!' she laughed to herself as she got to her feet, "I know how to get you out." she whispered to the closed door pointing her finger at it with each word she spoke.
**
She now stood outside in her yard looking up at the open window of her bathroom thanking the goddess that she always left it slightly ajar during the day hours.
It had been ages since she had had to climb through a window...
'Hopefully it would be a skill much like riding a bike,' she thought as she grabbed onto the rose trellis and proceeded to pull her way up. 'He would never suspect this,' she almost giggled in her delight at not being out done by a 5yr old.
"What are you doing?"
Completely startled she fell backwards hearing a muffled 'oomph' that didn't come from her, turning her head she saw a pair of sparkling brown eyes staring up at her from amongst the broken trellis and prickly roses.
She felt the rumbling of laughter in his chest and looked down to see that her hands where spread out over his t-shirt clad chest and she instinctively pulled her hands up away from him.
"Hold it," he said reaching forward to pull some twigs from her hair. His eyes laughed up at her, twinkling with good humour which, for some rather perverse reason made her even angrier. "Are you hurt?"
"Oh gosh... Connor." she got up off of him brushing at her jeans to rid her legs of cobwebs and dirt... noticing for the first time that he had saved her from the prickles which he now pulled from his own clothing.
"No, not Connor... I'm Matt, Matt Hardy from next door."
"I know you're not Connor!" she snapped. "He's locked himself in the bathroom that's
why I was on the trellis in the first place and did you have to scare me half to death!" she turned on him her hands resting on her hips at the same time remembering her manners. "Oh... I'm Willow Rosenberg."
"Well Willow Rosenberg if Connor is in the bathroom why don't you just ask him to open the door?"
"He's locked himself in. He's being doing that ever since his parents left."
Matt Hardy ran a hand through his long dark hair. "Hey, your husband sounds... troubled," he said uneasily.
"He's not my husband for heavens sake!"
"You're? boyfriend?"
Willow rolled her eyes and sighed. "He's the son of very good friends of mine and I'm baby sitting him while they go off... and have a very good... nice... romance-y night... time together."
He brightened at that. "Maybe I can help? I've talked my brother Jeff out of locked bathrooms dozens of times."
"Go for your life..." Willow replied holding her hands up in front of her. "He's all yours."
**
Back inside her house she watched as Matt tapped on the still locked door of the bathroom and called out. "Hey little girl, come out so we can talk."
"He's not a girl." she silently hissed beside him.
"Shhhh," he whispered back. "I was a boy once. This works, trust me."
The door opened slowly and Willow gasped as she saw several Band-Aids on Connor's chin, he glared at them both. "I am not a girl."
"See, it works every time." Matt whispered before turning back to Connor. "Sorry, my mistake. Why
don't I take a look under those Band-Aids?"
"I was shaving." Connor said jutting his chin out, daring anyone to tell him he wasn't
old enough to shave.
"Same thing happened to me first time I shaved." Matt said gently peeling the plasters off sending Willow a wink before ruffling Connors hair.
Connors eyes shone as he gazed up at this man who had accepted a 5yr old shaving without a fuss.
"Thank you," Willow said still a little bemused at what had just happened.
"No problem... I've talked Jeff out of most places even some strange places I won't
attempt to go into." he laughed.
"He sounds like a real character." she replied as she walked him to the door. She looked up at him and as he turned in the doorway and for a moment she thought he was going to reach out and ruffle her hair too.
"See you." he said with a little wave as he backed out of her doorway, she lifted her hand in response before she was
barreled out of the way by Connor who ran out to stand on the top steps.
"Hey wait!" he called out running the rest of the way to where Matt had stopped. "What's your name? And what do you do?" she heard Connor ask.
Matt squatted down to his eye level. "I'm Matt Hardy and I'm a professional wrestler... I wrestle and get kids out of locked bathrooms."
"What about tree's?
He laughed. "And tree's too."
What she saw next totally bowled her over, Connor spoilt son of the vampire with a soul extended his hand in friendship to her next door neighbour.
**
"Connor... breakfast!" Willow called as she placed freshly made pancakes down on the table. "Connor?"
When her calling didn't warrant a response from her little ward she walked down the hallway checking the bathroom as she passed an automatic sigh escaping her lips when she saw the bathroom door slid open to reveal an empty room inside.
"Connor?" she said poking her head into her spare room.
Nothing.
"Connor?" she called concern creeping into her voice as she saw the back door leading out to the yard open. She walked down the back steps and stood on the balcony, the yard was empty.
"Connor?" she called again.
"Up here." came a little voice in reply. Looking up she saw two little legs dangling out from amongst the leaves and branches of a tree.
"Connor, come down from there..."
"Cant."
"Why cant you?"
"Dunno."
"So now what am I supposed to do? Sheesh, you deserve a 'most likely to get Willow killed by parents' award." she grumbled as she walked under the tree to peruse her best path up it.
"Go get, Matt."
"What?"
"Go get, Matt." he repeated.
'Why the little sneak...' she thought. "We don't need Matt, I can get you down." she replied easily making her way up the tree.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you..."
'I wouldn't do that if I were you..." she quietly mocked back. 'Little... little... blood vessel!'
She got closer to him, so close if she reached out she could touch his foot. "Hah! Did it!"
He just shrugged pointing at the ground, she turned to look down and the world spun in a crazy kaleidoscope of green leaves and gravelled pathway.
'Good grief!' she thought wrapping both her arms around the nearest branch.
"Now who's going to get Matt?"
Willow closed her eyes and mentally counted to ten. 'This is the absolute last time I baby sit... ever!'
"Having problems?" an amused voice called from ground level. Willow looked down to see Matt staring up at them with his hands on his hips.
"We're both stuck," Connor called down, Willow mentally died of embarrassment.
"Stay put... I'm on my way." Moments later he was guiding them both down the tree. "Are you two always getting into such hot water?"
"Not... always..." she replied once both her feet were on solid ground again. "Thanks."
"Mom, dad!" the little mischief maker cried running up to the back door where Cordy and Angel stood watching them.
"I'm saved..." Willow muttered, blushing when she remembered Matt was still there, the laughter shining in his eyes letting her know he had heard her little outburst.
"Hey Connor," Angel said picking his laughing son up in his arms. "Did you enjoy your night at Aunt Willow's?"
"Very much so, can I come and stay with Aunt Willow and Uncle Matt again next weekend?"
Willow smiled when she heard Matt lose his footing on the gravel at hearing Connor's words, turning to see him flat on his butt. Her laughing gaze met the still dazed eyes of Matt Hardy sitting on the gravel. "If that's all it takes to see Matt on his butt, you can come every weekend."

part 2
"Matt! Matt are you out there?"
Willow raised her brows as a very feminine voice floated over the tall fence that separated her home from Matt's watching as he jumped up from the gravel to stand on his tippee toes to see over the fence.
"I'm here, Li." Matt replied shifting uncomfortably on his feet hearing Willow's giggles as she heard the girl reply.
"What... did you wake up on the wrong side of the fence this morning? Come on breakfast is ready and then you promised to show me around your new town."
"Be right there," he called back before righting himself and turning sheepishly back to Willow. "Brother's girlfriend,"
"Right..." she held out her hand to him. "Thanks for your help."
"No problem." he replied clasping her hand in his
"Kiss her uncle Matt!"
Willow's face went as red as her hair and she turned to glare at the little sneak still in his father's arms and imagined all the ways she could explain to his parents how he managed to grow a tail... or donkey ears... or devil horns... or...
"I'd better go," Matt said interrupting her musings then leaned forward kissing her lightly on the cheek. "Cant disappoint Connor..." he grinned as he slowly walked backwards up the gravelled path a silly grin on his face. "What can I say... I'm a sucker for 5yr old boys and their babysitters stuck in trees."
She watched as he stopped beside Angel and Cordy holding out his hand obviously introducing himself, Willow rolling her eyes as Cordy moved around the men to lick her finger and pretended to lay it on Matt's butt mouthing the words 'hot', Willow herself only making her way up to the porch as Matt turned with a final wave in her direction and then he was gone.
"Nice guy," Angel said once they were back in Willow's kitchen.
"He's a wrestler, daddy..." Angel's eyebrows rose at that, "I want to be a wrestler when I grow up."
Angel looked crestfallen. "I thought you wanted to be champion like me?"
"I can be both," Connor stated, "I already know how to ?wrestle?... wanna see?"
Willow had to stifle the giggle that rose in her chest as little Connor puckered up his lips and blew, a sweet audible ?whistle? escaping between his lips.
"See, I told you I could ?wrestle?." he smiled proudly up at the adults before walking towards the door. "Now if you will excuse me... I need to shave."
"What? Shave?" Angel repeated following his son out of the room only to return a moment later to say,
"Don't make any plans tonight."
"What... why?"
"Didn't Matt tell you? Barbeque, tonight... I said we'd bring you."
"Gee thanks dad." Willow grumbled knowing Angel would still hear her even though his footfalls could be heard running up the stairs.
Cordy snickered reaching for two coffee mugs... this was going to be a long day.
**
"No Aunt Willow wear this one,"
Willow looked down at the green sleeveless top Connor held in his hands. "Why that one?"
"Cos it's pretty." he stated as if he were the adult and she were the annoying nuisance.
"Guy's come on, we're late already." They both looked towards the door hearing Cordy's voice carry up the stairs.
"Coming..." Connor called back sticking his head out of Willow's bedroom door. "Come on Aunt Willow." he said turning back to her and smiling when he saw she had changed into the green top.
She watched as he walked over to her dresser. "What are you doing now?" she asked.
"Checking my hair." Was his reply and she laughed as he began pushing the wayward strands back behind his ears. "After you."
Her eyes narrowed suspiciously before walking past him only then feeling a light spray brush across the side of her belly where her bare skin showed beneath her top, the smell of perfume wafting up to her nostrils.
"Perfect." he declared smiling proudly as he looked up at her. It kinda made her feel like she was a drawing he had spent all day working on and was now just about to present it to his class.
She could only stare open mouthed as Connor pulled her down the stairs and out the front door leaving Cordy and Angel to follow behind them.
**
"Having fun- oh gosh... sorry..." he said when she jumped two feet in the air, she looked up and saw him trying to hide his laughter behind his hand. "I'm so sorry..."
His expression was infectious and she found her own lips turning up into a wide smile, pretty soon both of them were laughing uncontrollably. The stares they received from the other guests only adding fuel to their laughter until Willow had to seat herself on the steps she was standing on not sure her legs would be able to support her for much longer.
"What's going on here?"
Both turned to see Matt standing behind them an odd expression on his face.
"Just making nice with your guests, bro..." the young man replied before extending his hand towards Willow. "Hi, I'm Jeff."
"Willow." she smiled back.
"Aunt Willow I need to go to the bathroom." came a little voice by her side, turning she saw Connor with his legs crossed obviously in very dire need.
"Okay honey... I'll take you,"
"And you too Uncle Matt." Connor said grabbing onto his hand as Willow turned towards the stairs with Connor in her arms.
Connor lifted his head up off Willow's shoulder and smiled before poking his tongue out at the man they had called Jeff.
**
"Connor, are you okay in there?"
"Yes."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"Guess that second hotdog didn't agree with him." Matt offered as he and Willow sat on the floor with their backs against the wall on either side of the bathroom door.
"Willow you up there?"
"Yeah, Angel... Connor's in the bathroom."
"He hasn't locked himself in again has he?"
She heard Matt chuckle beside her. "No, Angel... he's fine." 'At least I hope he is.' she added to herself.
"Okay, I've got to take Cordelia back she's developed one of her migraines... is Connor okay with you?"
"Yes he is... we'll be along as soon as he's done."
"Okay, and if you see Matt will you thank him for us... I can't find him anywhere."
"I got it." she called back before turning to smile back at the already smiling Matt, she didn't notice before how close they really were. "You have tiny gold specks in your eyes." she heard herself say.
"Do I?"
"Yeah..." she lowered her gaze every now and then her eyes flicking up to see his eyes still trained on her. "What? Have I got food on my teeth or something?" she asked suddenly feeling as if the room were shrinking.
She felt him move forward could feel his breath on her cheeks, his fingers in her hair... she closed her eyes waiting for the first touch of his lips on hers...
Neither of them heard the bathroom door click open or the giggle that escaped Connor's mouth as he looked down at his Aunt Willow and his Uncle Matt.
"Finally." he said stepping back into the bathroom and closing the door thinking now was a good a time as any to have a shave.
